PRISONS
S.C.C. has provided solutions for prisons throughout the country, from Addiewell in the North to Belmarsh in the South of England and for both the private and public sectors.
Our success in this field has been based around the use of a volumetric technique whereby flat-pack components are manufactured and pre-assembled at the works in mainly a double cell configuration, which drastically reduces the erection time on site.
All electrical services are cast within the flat-pack components along with intercom boxes and bed fixing sockets as appropriate, and there is now a move for providing heating within the floor slabs, again saving time on site.
In the early days only the house blocks adopted this method of construction, with the hub and core areas still being constructed using conventional methods.
However, even these areas although perhaps perceived a little more difficult, have now been converted to a volumetric solution improving construction time yet again.
Our involvement in the custodial market has focused the minds of many individuals, allowing innovative ideas to come to fruition, whereby 95% of the building’s structure is sent to site pre-assembled.
