LIVERPOOL JOHN LENNON AIRPORT HOTEL AND MSCP
Standing directly opposite the main terminal building of Liverpool John Lennon Airport, this project integrated S.C.C.’s volumetric modular pre-cast systems for both MSCP and hotel construction.
Completed in March 2009 for Peel Projects Ltd, the 157 bedroom hotel constructed in pre-cast pod form rises from the top deck of the 874 space car park serving airport short stay and hotel resident parking.
Constructed under a design build contract, a variety of cladding systems were adopted and developed to give the structure its unique external envelope, encompassing rainscreen, wood and aluminium effect boarding and coloured glass fixed to traditional aluminium support structures to the hotel and to pre-cast concrete full height cladding units delivered to site as a completed unit from our facility in Stockport.
The unique feature of the elliptical meeting area to the south elevation dominates the facade as visitors exit the main terminal building, constructed with pre-cast deck units with steel and timber roof structure clad in zinc effect copper.
Structurally both MSCP and hotel are constructed entirely of pre-cast concrete components including the huge transfer beam structures required to enable the hotel to sit over the MSCP.
