Leeds Oncology (M.S.C.P.)
Built as part of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals expansion plan the car-park provides parking for both visitors and employees alike.
Cut into the hillside adjacent to the old hospital buildings, the car-park looks down over the city, with the first two levels of parking being partially underground. The entrance road then takes you up to a podium level, where access to the remaining six levels of parking can be made.
The original concept design and pallet of material agreed with the planning authority have been used throughout the design build process.
At minus level two, galvanised screens provide the security which allow the car-park to achieve its Park-Mark status, in addition to this at higher levels, a stainless steel woven mesh has been used as an architectural feature, whilst providing pedestrian impact for car-park users.
The stair cores have been constructed using white acid etched concrete, with Spanish Dolomite fines. The remainder of the façade treatment uses en-cast terracotta in two shades, traditional and cream. These have been cast into the car-parks structural panels in a stack bonded pattern, with ribbon openings providing the required cross-flow ventilation.
