Manchester Art Gallery
A bespoke precast concrete frame was the requisite of Michael Hopkins & Partners for the extension to the City's newly refurbished Art Gallery.
A specially designed mix of concrete was used to give the frame its unique appearance. Domed vaulted precast slabs, columns, walls and beams were all erected to tight tolerances on site, (+ or - 1mm).
Work was completed in just less than twelve months to the satisfaction of the management contractor Bovis Lend Lease with a contract value of circa £1.1 million.
